Dental care is the last Buzzword for Tourism

Kerala tourism is a soul stirring kichdi of products-backwaters, beaches, Ayurveda and hill stations and now has a new ingredient- Dental care.

Tooth Colored Restoration

If you’re embarrassed about your smile because of decay or dark fillings in your teeth, you may be a good candidate for composite resins. A silicon dioxide-filled, tooth-colored plastic mixture, composite resins can restore teeth to an attractive, healthy state. Composite resins represent several advantages over traditional silver or amalgam fillings.

Because composite resins are not made of metal, we can blend and mix shades to find the perfect color to match your natural teeth. This means only you and your dentist will know you have fillings. Another pro is that the tooth/composite bond actually supports the remaining tooth structure, deterring breakage and insulating against temperature changes. Medium and small composites can last seven to ten years – that’s as long as the tried and true amalgams. Best of all,

Root Canal Treatment

We are very much familiar with a treatment called Root Canal Treatment or Endodontic treatment. It’s a procedure to remove the tooth’s pulp. A pulp is a part in the center of the tooth made up of nerve tissues and cells. The treatment is done only when this pulp get infected. When a tooth has a deep cavity, bacteria can enter the pulp. If it is not treated properly this bacteria can cause serious infections like loss of tooth itself. Some of the symptoms of this bacterial infections include swelling around your face and neck, a hole in your tooth, tooth pain etc.

A Root Canal treatment is usually done by an Endodontist or a general dentist. The treatment can be done within one or two visits or may be within some additional visits depending upon the infection. First the patient has to get a dental X-ray to know how much it is affected. The patient will also receive a local anesthesia to control the pain. Then a rubber like sheet is inserted in your mouth to keep the tooth clean. After removing the decay an opening is made through the visible part of the tooth (upper part) to get access to the pulp. The infected pulp is removed using a small dental instrument. After removing the infected pulp, the root canals are cleaned properly and allowed to fill later. For permanent filling, the tooth has to be cleaned from all infections and dried. For that a medicinal dressing is given for few days.. A prescription for antibiotics may be needed if the infection has spread beyond the tooth. Biting and chewing on the tooth should be avoided until the treatment is done. You may not need additional anesthesia for filling of the tooth. For filling the tooth, a paste and a rubber material is used and also a filling to protect root canals from saliva. Restoring your tooth is the final stage of root canal. This stage is usually done by keeping a crown (visible part) which is an artificial tooth but looks realistic. We have seen some people with golden tooth in films, especially some villains laughing loudly!!! Like this the crown can be made of gold or porcelain. Porcelain crown which is fused to metal can be tinted with the colour of other teeth. After the restoration your tooth should work normally and also it should be pleasing. It could last for a life time only when if you follow a good dental and oral hygiene. Your tooth may be sensitive for a few days after the treatment. If pain lasts for more than few days, talk to your dentist.

Root Canal treatment is so important because at times when a tooth gets infected, it would have to be extracted. But today, due to this treatment the infection can be cured without extracting. It is best to save your natural tooth than extracting it. Once the natural teeth are gone, it can’t be replaced by an original one. We have to look for some other alternative. This alternative tooth will have some limitations also. But there are different opinions regarding the safety of root canals. Some people say that it is painful. But it relieves the pain by removing the infected pulp. It’s probably more painful living with a decayed tooth. The other opinion regarding the safety is that, it causes illness. This opinion is based on the findings of Dr. Weston A. Price. He advocated tooth extraction over root canal. According to his findings it is said that bacteria from the root canal could enter the blood stream and travel to the body and create disease. The most common diseases found are circulatory and heart disease. The decision depends upon the patient. Choose the right dentist before the treatment. Root canal treatment is done by general dentist or Endodontist. An Endodontist is different from a general dentist. An Endodontist limits and specializes in root canal treatment. For that they must complete a 3 year post graduation course and get certificate. Right choosing of the dentist never creates any problem in future. Researchers have also found that patients with multiple root canal treatments had a 45 percent reduced risk of cancer.

Root Canal treatment is very much expensive all over the world when compared to India. It costs an average of $300 to $2000. But in India it’s an average of about Rs 4000 to Rs 5000. The cost of root canal depends upon the dentist, position of the tooth, number of roots, length of the roots, chair time and the technology used by the dentist. There are many famous dentists in India who is specialized in this treatment. People prefer India for Root Canal treatment as the cost is very much cheap when compared to other countries. Dental x-ray

Dental radiographs, commonly referred to as X-ray films, or informally, X-rays, are pictures of the teeth, bones, and surrounding soft tissues to screen for and help identify problems with the teeth, mouth, and jaw. X-ray pictures can show cavities, cancerous or benign masses, hidden dental structures (such as wisdom;and bone loss that cannot be seen during a visual examination. Dental X-rays may also be done as follow-up after dental treatments A radiographic image is formed by a controlled burst of X-ray radiation which penetrates oral structures at different levels, depending on varying anatomical densities, before striking the film or sensor. Teeth appear lighter because less radiation penetrates them to reach the film. Dental caries, infections and other changes  in the bone density, and the periodontal ligament, appear darker  because X-rays readily penetrate these less dense structures. Dental restorations (fillings, crowns) may appear lighter or darker,  depending on the density of the material.

B-Class Autoclave
Autoclaves commonly sterilise by exposing its charge (items to be sterilised) to elevated temperatures of 121 to 134ºC under pressure of 15 to 30 psi, for a holding time of anywhere between three to 30 minutes. Please note that the three to thirty minutes time is the holding time at the set elevated temperature and not the total process or cycle time. Total cycle time would be far greater. The combination of the three lethal parameters of time, temperature and steam, deliver a powerful kill rate which even the hardest of bacteria find hard to survive. This effective and yet clean method of lethality is unmatched by any of the other methods of sterilisation.
